As you may be aware, a new federal law requires certain businesses to inform their clients of their policies regarding the privacy of personal client information. While the new law applies primarily to banks, credit card companies, and other financial institutions, it may also apply to law firms that advise their clients with respect to tax or investment advisory matters. To this end, we would like to explain our policy with respect to personal client information.

In accordance with our professional obligations, we are committed to maintaining the privacy of matters pertaining to our current and former clients. We will not disclose personal client information that we obtain in the course of our representation without your express consent, or as otherwise required by law. As lawyers, we are bound by our professional standards of confidentiality which are far more stringent than the confidentiality required by this new law. We protect your confidential information and will continue to protect your nonpublic personal information in accordance with our professional obligations.

During our representation, we may collect nonpublic personal information about you that is either provided by you, or is procured with your authorization or consent. We do not disclose this information to anyone unless authorized by you, or as otherwise required by law or applicable codes of professional responsibility governing lawyers. In order to protect the confidentiality of your personal information, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with our professional standards.
